Limited Ingredient Hydrolyzed Protein Soft-Baked
Treats for Dogs with Food Sensitivities -
Available Without Prescription

VFS Skin and Digestive Support Soft-Baked Treats are limited ingredient, hydrolyzed protein treats designed for dogs with food sensitivities and ingredient intolerances. The sole protein source is hydrolyzed pork, pork that has been broken down into smaller peptides and free amino acids, similar to the process used in some hypoallergenic infant formulas. Because the protein fragments are so small, the immune system is less likely to recognize and react to them, making these treats well suited for dogs that have responded poorly to conventional protein sources.

Each treat contains approximately 20 calories, with a guaranteed fat minimum of 8%. Salmon Oil provides omega 3 fatty acids, and Apple Cider Vinegar and Dried Chicory Root are included to support digestive health. These treats are formulated to pair naturally with VFS Skin and Digestive Support dry kibble and wet food, using the same hydrolyzed pork protein source for consistent nutrition across meals and rewards.

Intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding. If you have questions or concerns, consult your veterinarian regarding appropriate treat quantities for your dog's individual dietary plan, particularly if your dog is on a hydrolyzed protein diet as directed by a veterinarian.

Complete the Routine

Pair these treats with VFS Skin and Digestive Support dry kibble or 13oz wet food for a fully consistent hydrolyzed protein diet. Same hydrolyzed pork protein source across every format.

FAQ’s

Are there hydrolyzed protein dog treats?

Yes. VFS Skin and Digestive Support Soft-Baked Treats use hydrolyzed pork as the sole protein source, broken down into small peptides and free amino acids. This is the same protein technology used in the VFS Skin and Digestive Support dry kibble and wet food, allowing dogs on a hydrolyzed protein diet to have a consistent treat option. SquarePet is currently the only over the counter Hydrolyzed treat available, all others require a prescription.

What is hydrolyzed pork and why is it used in treats?

Hydrolyzed pork is pork protein that has been broken down into smaller peptides and free amino acids through a process similar to what is used in some hypoallergenic infant formulas. Because the protein fragments are smaller, the immune system is less likely to recognize and react to them, which can benefit dogs that have shown sensitivity to intact proteins from common meat sources.

Are there dog treats safe for dogs with food allergies?

For dogs whose veterinarians have identified a food sensitivity or intolerance, a limited ingredient hydrolyzed protein treat can be a useful option for maintaining a consistent, restricted diet even during treat time. VFS Skin and Digestive Support Soft-Baked Treats use only hydrolyzed pork as the protein source. We recommend confirming any treat selection with your veterinarian, particularly during an elimination diet trial.

What are limited ingredient dog treats?

Limited ingredient treats use a short, focused ingredient list built around a single protein source, reducing the number of potential triggers for dogs with food sensitivities. VFS Skin and Digestive Support Soft-Baked Treats use hydrolyzed pork as the only protein source, alongside rice, Salmon Oil, and a small number of supporting ingredients.

Are there dog treats that support skin health?

VFS Skin and Digestive Support Soft-Baked Treats include Salmon Oil as a source of omega 3 fatty acids, which are commonly associated with skin barrier and coat health. Because the treats use the same hydrolyzed pork protein as the Skin and Digestive Support dry and wet formulas, they can be used consistently as part of a broader dietary approach for dogs with food-related skin sensitivities.

How many calories are in each treat, and how much fat do they contain?

Each treat contains approximately 20 calories. The guaranteed analysis confirms a minimum crude fat of 8%. As with any treat, we recommend following the 10% rule, keeping treats to no more than 10% of your dog's total daily caloric intake.

Are these treats a complete and balanced food?

No. These treats are intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding only and are not formulated as a complete and balanced diet on their own. They are designed to complement VFS Skin and Digestive Support dry kibble or wet food as part of a full feeding plan.

Do I need a prescription for hydrolyzed protein treats?

Not for VFS Skin & Digestive Support. Unlike competitors which all require a veterinary prescription - VFS Skin & Digestive Support is available over the counter directly from SquarePet and at independent pet retailers across the U.S. If you have questions or concerns consult your veterinarian before switching to a hydrolyzed protein treats to confirm it is appropriate for your dog.

What protein is used in these dog treats?

The number one ingredient is wild-caught Ocean Whitefish, a naturally lean, highly digestible fish protein. These treats are chicken-free, making them suitable for dogs who need to avoid poultry, in addition to their low-fat formulation.

Do these treats contain apple cider vinegar?

Yes. Apple Cider Vinegar is part of the GI Health blend in these treats, alongside Dried Chicory Root and Psyllium Husk, confirmed in the ingredient list. This blend is included to support digestive health alongside the low-fat formulation.

Are these treats good for senior dogs?

Yes. The soft-baked texture is easy to chew and well tolerated by dogs with sensitive digestion, seniors, and small breeds, as noted on the product label. Combined with the low fat guarantee of 8% maximum, these treats can be a good option for older dogs who also need dietary fat management.

Are these treats made with real fish?

Yes. Wild-caught Ocean Whitefish is the number one ingredient. It is a naturally lean protein source, which supports the treats' low fat profile while still providing a highly palatable flavor most dogs enjoy.
