My dog with CKD is also THE PICKIEST EATER EVER! This is the only kibble he will consistently eat. Even though it’s not a “prescription” diet, my vet said it was ok to feed him this because he’s so picky. He also gets a prescription wet food, so the vet said nutrition was complete. It’s so much easier to get since it’s not “prescription”. Order directly from Square Pet, so you’re sure it’s fresh.
It looks like my dog enjoys the food. However, the wet food can I opened had a large air pocket in it, so it was not full. The wet food is also quite dry. I have only open one one can though.
I was advised by my vet to start my almost 12 year old lab/border collie mix on a k/d prescription food. After doing some research on the prescription brands I came across Square Pet low phosphorus dry dog food. The ingredients were very good and comparable to the prescription ones and you do not need a prescription for this food. I transitioned my dog over a couple weeks to this food. No issues with this food and she has been doing well.
My senior dog was put on low-fat food due to his latest bloodwork. The typical prescription dog foods had so many things in them that just didnt sound very appetizing for my baby. I came across this low fat food through many hours of research and was pleased to see its first ingredient was whitefish and there’s no chicken in the product. The canned food is a little dry so I add a little warm water to it to thin it a tad and he loves it. As he’s older I also like to soften the wet food for him and he gobbles it up. This seems perfect for my Scooby. No prescription needed but I still gave my vet all the nutritional info and got his approval.
HALLELUJAH!!! Finally a daily dog food that my 10 year old dog digests well, enjoys, & delivers good nutrition & healthy poops!!!! The low fat & low protein combo did the trick. I do add homemade zero salt bone broth for moisture. Thank you for creating this product & not ruining it with harmful preservatives.
my white german shepherd is doing very well on this, it does not appear to trigger his chronic pancreatitis and he loves the food
I bought both the canned and the dry to integrate into the diet of my white shepherd who has chronic pancreatitis issues. He loves both and so far so good, he is doing very well with them!!
My dogs loved this food! We used to have a prescription low-fat food and I was so annoying to have to always have my vet card to get the food and then I had to make sure to renew the prescription and with Square pet it’s so convenient and my dog loves the food and the food is great for his low-fat meat. I also compare the ingredients between this food and the prescription food and pet has better ingredients.
I am so thrilled to have found VFS Low Fat Formula. My pet LOVES it and eats every meal with enthusiasm. My dog had a mild but persistent bout with pancreatitis. Love this food! My pup has irritable bowel disease. My vet recommended ultra low-fat food. Since we have a doodle who can’t eat chicken this food is perfect.

I wan to say this food was amazing and helped our boy unfortunately the complete opposite happened. With the approval of our vet trying SquarePets Digestive we tried this food for 8 weeks and my dog began to have soft yellow stool (color of food ) we never got a spike stool in factwe had episodes of diarrhea and then he began to vomit. He had to visit ER vet Because his GI became so irritated and he was dehydrated. Vet has advised to transition away from the food at this point and now he is doing a lot better.
